🌊 We’re thrilled to share our active role in the VALIAS project — turning marine invasive species into valuable resources — and our recent engagement in the AZTI Summer School 2025 focused on “Artificial Intelligence and Citizen Science in Monitoring and Assessing Biodiversity and Invasive Species at Sea”!
🧬 About VALIAS
VALIAS (MSCA Horizon Europe, grant agreement 101131441) is transforming invasive marine species — such as non-native fish and seaweeds — into sustainable ingredients for food, aquafeed, and cosmetics. By applying circular-economy principles, we create commercial value while reducing ecological impacts across European seas www.valias.eu.
🎓 AZTI Summer School (3–5 June 2025, San Sebastián)
Organized by AZTI and supported by projects like ANERIS, BioBoost+, GuardIAS, and others, this 21st edition focused on cutting-edge tools for ocean monitoring:
- Leveraging AI to enhance biodiversity tracking.
- Engaging citizen science for early detection of invasive species.
- Integrating operational oceanography and marine policy frameworks.
🙏 A heartfelt thank you to AZTI for organizing this transformative Summer School, and to the entire VALIAS consortium for their ongoing dedication and collaboration!
